Date: Monday September 17th, 2001
Characters
The adventurers are members of the Winter Wolves Guild, one of several adventuring guilds operating in the north. They are ordered by their superiors to deliver a package to the mage Tauster in the village of Taumaster far to the east along the Lusk river valley. There are also rumours of kidnapping's in the region that the guild would like investigated. Serena and Hon have another mission as well, they are t locte the mage Tauster and determine if he is actually another mage in hiding. If he is they are to slay him.
After checking their equipment the party heads off. The journey is uneventful until they are almost at Milourne. Here they are attacked in the gathering dusk by a band of bandits (6) but force them to flee for their lives. Two of the would be bandits are captured and are interrogated. The bandits soon give away the fact that they others will be at their hide out an old abandoned farm not two miles away so after letting the prisoners go the adventurers head to the farm and sneak up on it.
Hon kicks in the front door and is aided by Serena while "Piskie" fires sling stones through the nearest window. The half dozen bandits are soon overwhelmed and captured. The leader, Carlanis is tortured and forced to reveal who he works for. Both knee caps are broken but does inform the party about his boss "Ran" and how to get in contact with him. Carlanis is then forced to write a message and then sends it via a trained crow.
The next night the bandit leader and several followers arrive and are ambushed in the shack. Piskie fails to backstab Ran and is then held. Serena manages to fight off two bandits and Hon kills one. The leader, whom they have yet to see close up, then has wings grow out of his back and flees into the night.
The following morning three prisoners are escorted to Milbourne and are handed over to the authorities. The local lord, Carmen is suitably impressed and asks the Winter Wolves to find the bandit leader and bring him to justice. They agree, but first have to deliver their goods to Thurmaster.
They arrive in said village two days later and deliver the package to the mage. That evening Hon and Serena break into his house and attack him as he is indeed bearing the scar that identifies him as their target. Serena is almost killed by a lightning bolt but Hon kills the mage and then plants evidence to make it look like there was an explosion and the wizard was flung out of his tower window to his death.
The following day the village is in mourning and Serena is laid up in bed. The party give their condolences to Jenalla, the mage's apprentice, and then spend three days waiting for Serena to recover sufficiently to travel. Once she is rested they return to Milbounre and take up Lord Carmen on his commission to track down the bandit leader. He informs them that there is a tracker named Krupier that may be able to help them in their mission and that they should see him.
The following morning they depart, arriving at Krupier's farm late in the afternoon. They meet with the ranger and he agrees to accompany them. They rest the night at his farm but shortly after tea there is a strange scraping sound at the door and Krupier opens it to a possum. He speaks with the animal and learns that a local lad has changed into a werebear and can't change back. Krupier says that he must travel into the woods to find the lad and asks the party if they'll help him. They agree.
