Hall of Heroes
Here is a list of some the former player characters that are living in Greyhawk and may be encountered as NPCs. Most of the characters will be encountered in Keoland and other areas near the Sheldomar Valley as this is where most of our adventures took place. These characters are presented to use as NPCs and several of them are of high levels. They are ideal therefore to be used as mentors and advisors for a party of player characters.
Caradin Stomdale
Half-elf, male, Fighter 7, NG
Caradin Stormdale is a former ranger who lost his rangerhood
after experimenting with two teeth of Dahlver-Nar, the
unfortunate side affect of which was an involuntary alignment
change. He adventured briefly with Leah and Dawn but usually
undertook solo adventures wandering the lands in search of a way
to restore his lost rangerhood. He disappeared several years ago
after joining a band of adventurers who were investigating the
attacks on caravans in the Burning Sands region of Candalfeor (a
continent in the Southern Hemisphere of Oerth that we developed
many years ago). Of his party only one returned to Galach to tell
of the fate of Caradin and his companions. Apparently they were
attacked and captured by an efreeti lord who'd set up his own
domain in the Burning Sands. No word has been heard from Caradin
since this unfortunate incident, mainly because he is trapped on
the Elemental Plane of Fire.
Caradin is currently trapped on the Elemental Plane of Fire and trying to find a gate back to Greyhawk. He escaped a prsion but only after the efreeti pasha removed the artefact teeth. Caradin managed to escape and now wanders round in the city of Brass trying to find a way home. At least now his alignment has returned to normal. Perhaps one day he'll find a way back to \the Prime Material Plane and a way to regain all he has lost (i.e. his rangerhood).
Caradin is a brave and resourceful warrior. He is easy going and carefree, almost recklessly so at times but has a strong sense of right and wrong and a champion of the underdog. He is exceedingly loyal to his king, Robert Durand, and his wife Niva Morgan.
Dawn Darkwater
Human, male, Paladin 13, LG
Dawn and Leah are two of the most famous adventurers in Greyhawk
being responsible for the ending of the /slavers menace and the
destruction of the giants fortresses in the Yeomanry. Following
many brave deeds Dawn retired and built a keep called Lauvlin in
the Good Hills. He founded his own order of paladins, the Order
of the Silver Gauntlet and spends his days running this
organisation. The paladins are gaining a growing reputation in
the south-west Flanaess and have received a royal charter from
King Kimbertos. Apparently the Knights of the Watch aren't
impressed.
Dawn has only one arm, the other being taken by Lolth, instead he has a special magical arm constructed by Grimrod that acts as a normal arm in all respects and has several magical powers of its own. Dawn Darkwater is a shining example of all a paladin should be: brave, loyal, courteous, honest, unflinching in his devotion to the tenants of his order and is a living hero to a whole generation of paladins in the Flanaess.
Dread Delgath
Human, male, Fighter 5, N
Dread was another member of Valentine's band and once the
fellowship broke up he journeyed briefly with Jearath around
northern Keoland. He was last heard of investigating n old tomb
in the Stark Hills with a band of adventurers operating out of
Gorna.
Gregor "the Great"
Gray elf, male, Fighter 7/ Mage 9
Gregor the Great had a long and illustrious career (being Ian's
first ever character!) but his luck finally ran out in the
dungeons beneath the Halls of the Fire Giant King (G3) when he
was slain by a mindflayer- his brain sucked out actually.
Fortunately for him Grumble had prepared for such an emergency
and took some tissue samples which he used to cloned the elf.
Gregor then spent several months with Grumble in his tower in
Gradsul, copying spells and doing research of his own. One day a
letter arrived for him stating that Edwin Bannock , the lord of
Bannock Keep, more commonly known as the Keep on the Borderlands
which lies in the Stark Hills, had died without leaving an heir
and that he had bequeathed his title and lands to Gregor. Grego
immediately packed up his belongings and headed north to claim
his inheritance and is now the ruler of his own small fife in the
borderland province of Javan in north-western Keoland.
Groves
Half elf, male, Druid 12, N
Groves is a follower of Beory who joined Leah on an expedition to
the plane of Elemental Fire. After successfully rescuing Telo and
Dawn Groves travelled to the Dreadwood and became a member of the
circle of druids (called the Druids of the Dread) charged with
protecting this woodland. He is currently the second in charge of
this small circle and spends his days wandering around the forest
that he loves.
Grumble Firebreath
Gray elf, male, Fighter 7/Mage 11, N
Grumble joined Leah and Dawn on some of their later adventures.
He is a slightly build grey elf, with silver hair and amber eyes
of indeterminable age. Like the other members of Leah's party
retired shortly after rescuing Dawn from the Drow. He retired to
Arathgul's tower in Doriath in the Sommelend Duchy (in the
Southerrn hemisphere of Oerth) but used great magicks to relocate
the entire structure to Gradsul in Keoland. Here he shut himself
away for several months while conducting important research.
Finally he invited Leah to a banquet at his tower. Leah arrived
and was very surprised to find both Keelin and Gregor sitting at
the table. Grumble had used a clone spell from a scroll given to
him by his friend Grimrod the Grey (ruler of the Valley of the
Mage) and had cloned both of the former companions using samples
he'd collected after their deaths in the Halls of the Fire Giant
King. Needless to say Leah was elated to be reunited with his
friends.
Grumble spends most of his time shut away in his tower and seldom adventures any more. He does occasionally find the need to adventure to replenish rare material components for his research but if he can he prefers to send out bands of lower level adventurers to undertake these quests for him. He has gained a reputation of being a generous sponsor so commissions to do work for him are highly sought after by adventurers.
Jareth "the Roamer"
Human, male, Monk 5, LG
Jareth the Roamer was another member of Valentine's original band.
This bald headed monk still wanders the South West Flanaess,
never staying in one place for long and doing as he pleases. He
is known to pop in and visit his former adventuring companions in
Hochoch but never stays for long.
Joanne Meriweather
Human, female, Bard 5, NG
Joanne Meriweather was a member of Valentine's Fellowship and she
retired to Hochoch at the end of her brief adventuring career.
She lives with Romanous Bargord and spends much of her spare time
raising their three children. She still loves telling tales of
faraway places and on occasion is known to perform in one off the
many inns of Hochoch. It seems that she has given up the
adventuring life for good.
Keelin "the Bold"
Half-elf, male, fighter 13, NG
Keelin the bold was a member of Leah's Fellowship who, like
Gregor, was slain by Mindflayers in the dungeons beneath the fire
giant kings halls. Grumble was cloned by Grumble (using a scroll)
and so restored to life. He was last heard of travelling north to
reclaim his keep in the Gnarley Forest. Leah received word
stating that the keep had been taken over by demons and that
Keelin was intending on raising a band of adventurers to clear it.
No word has been heard since.
Leah Ravenlock
human, male, bard 19 (fighter 8, thief 8), LN
Leah Raavenlock, poet, bard and adventurer. Truly one of the
greatest adventurers of the time, his exploits have become
legendary. He retired to Doriath in Candalfeor to be with his
girlfriend, Linden, the ruler of the local thieves guild. However
the guild was broken up by the authorities and both Leah and
Linden forced to flee the Sommelend Duchy. They returned to
Greyhawk and settled in Gradsul in Keoland.
Leah continues to give the occasional performance and is much sought after by the nobility of Keoland. He usually refuses such invitations but it is known that he is the favourite bard of King Kimbertos Skotti and performs at the kings annual gala. He spends much of his ample free time writing poetry and is rumoured to be writing his memoirs and a play based on his adventuring days.
Linden (NPC)
Human, female, Thief 13, N
The vivacious Linden is Leah Ravenlocks' lover. She was the guild
-mistress of Doriath's thieves guild in the Sommelend Duchy which
lies in the southern hemisphere of Oerth, but had to flee the
city with a price on her head when the authorities broke up the
organisation. She is still on the run and has a large reward on
her head, (over 10,000 gold sovereigns). She now lives in Gradsul
in Keoland with Leah and has no plans to start a new guild and is
said to have retired from thieving. However several spectacular
burglaries in Keoland in recent years have been attributed to an
unknown female thief of rare skill and talent. Linden claims no
knowledge of these events, she merely smiles and politely steers
the conversation to more interesting matters if asked about them.
Romanous Bargord
Human, male, Fighter 5, LN
After settling down with Joanne Meriweather Romanous joined the
Watch in Hochoch. This proved to be an excellent career move for
him and he quickly rose through the ranks to become an officer of
the Watch. In 580CY he was appointed Captain of the Watch and is
now responsible for all law and order in Hochoch. He has gained a
reputation as being a tough yet fair officer and is much admired
and respected by his troops. He gained much fame after a showdown
with the bandit lord Guntha McQuay outside one of the inns of
Hochoch. McQuay was visiting one of the brothels in the seedier
part of town and Romanous, with the aid of Valentine, walked into
the brothel and arrested the bandit lord before his stunned men
while the nervous soldiers of the Watch looked on. The bandit
resisted and several of his henchmen slain before Romanous took
him prisoner.
The Learned One (Telo)
Gray elf, female, Mage 14, CG
The enigmatic elf, Telo was one of the long term members of Leah's
fellowship. On many occasions her magic saved her companions
lives. A few years ago she and Dawn had a near death experience
on the elemental plane of fire and following her rescue from this
plane she decided to retire to her native Celene. Here she
accepted a position at the Royal Academy of the Arcane Arts in
Enstad and spends most of her days here lecturing apprentice
magic users and conducting research of her own. She still keeps
in contact with her former companions but much of her time is
devoted to her studies and she has little free time to pursue
other interests or to visit with t hem.
Valentine Camero
Human, male, Mage 7 (Fighter 5), LN
Valentine Camero lives in Hochoch on the borders of the Grand
Duchy of Geoff. He began his adventuring days as a fighter but
showed some aptitude with magic and eventually trained to become
a mage. Several years ago (576CY) he and his companions ran afoul
of the ruler of the Valley of the Mage and were forced to flee
the valley. Valentine's girlfriend, Jemima was slain in the
combat with the Mage's troops and Valentine was heart broken. He
wanted revenge but his friends counselled against it. When his
companions finally went their separate ways Valentine organised
an expedition to retake the Valley but was once again defeated.
His hatred of the Mage hasn't diminished over the years and he
still plots to overthrow him and take the land as his own. When
afflicted by such foul moods and talking of such deeds it is best
to leave the usually carefree Valentine alone. Valentine is semi-retired
but occasionally finds time to adventure, usually without his
former companions. The last such occasion was when he joined the
Silver Blades on several expeditions into the Dim Forest.
