Non-Player Characters
The following is a list of some of the non-player characters encountered by the party. The colours give a general indication of the feelings/disposition of the NPC towards the player characters and vice versa. In many cases a class or alignment isn't given as this information isn't available to the PCs or common knowledge, I have to leqve some things for the DM after all!.
Bob
Human, male, fighter
Bob was one of the smugglers on the sea Ghost, he was charmed by
ulthra and spilled his beans about the smugglers operations and
their leader, Sanbalet (or at least as much as he knew). His
evidence on their operations was used to convict, and hang, his
former companions while Bob received a pardon. He now resides in
Saltmarsh and works as a manservant/henchman/sailor for Ulthran.
Elissa
human, female
Elissa is in her early thirties, average height, slender and
attractive with dark brown hair and hazel eyes.
Elissa owns the Seaspray Inn in Saltmarsh. She is a retired adventurer and a very successful business-woman. She looks after "her girls" like a kindly mother and doesn't take too kindly to them being abused. She is commonly called "The Lady" by the inn's regulars.
Grundel Tallow
human, male, fighter
Grundel is a rotund man in his mid-40's. He is a retired fighter
turned merchant who founded a mine, Tallow's Deep, in the hills
north of Burle. He is a shrewd businessman out to maximise his
profits. The party was hired by Grundel to clear out one of his
mines after it was overrun by goblins.
Megan
Human, female
Megan is a waitress at the Seaspray Tavern in Saltmarsh.
Natasha
Human, female
Natasha is an attractive, sultry red head. She is about 5' 8"
and in her early twenties. She is the wizard Nimrod's only
apprentice and also works part time as a barmaid in the Seaspray
Inn in Saltmarsh. Friendly, outgoing and gregarious she is
popular around town and has recently become Ulthran's lover.
Nimrod
human, male, magic user
Nimrod is in his mid 50's, with greying hair and weather beaten
features. His eyes are brown and penetrating and his is somewhat
crusty and blunt, preferring research to people. Nimrod is a
water wizard, he specialises in the oceans and sea life and is
keenly interested in anything that goes on concerning the seas
around Saltmarsh. It is said that he pays adventurers to collect
rare components for his research occasionally.
Oceanus
Sea-elf, male, fighter/ thief 3/3
Oceanus is from the Manaan sea-elf tribe that inhabit the warm
coastal waters near Saltmarsh. He was captured by the smugglers
abaord the Sea Ghost and later rescued by the adventurers. Loyal,
friendly and full of enthusiasm Oceanus is very inquisitive and
out to see as much of the world as he can. He is extremely
inquisitive about the surface world and those that dwell there.
He also feels indebted to the Fellowship of the Cudgel for
rescuing him and intends to repay that debt in any way that he
can.
Ranfuches
Human, male, Priest of Nerull.
Ranfuches is of medium height and build with short brown hair. He
wears an eye patch over his left eye and wears black robes. He
has is the leader of the kidnappers operating out of Broken Spire
Keep.
Sanbalet
Human, male, Illusionist
Sanbalet is about 5'7" tall and is his late 20's. He is of
Sueloise origins, thin, almost skeletal in appearance and has
closely cropped blonde hair and blue eyes. He wears faded purple
robes and a matching skull cap and usually carries a staff.
Sanbalet was the leader of the smuggler's operating out of the caves beneath Milthorpe Manor. He escaped when the caves were discovered and other smugglers captured by the player characters. Sanbalet is still presently at large and thought to have been responsible for the recent kidnapping attempt on Nialis.
Willy Stoutfoot
Halfling, male, Fighter
Willy is middle aged, and portly halfling. He stands just over 3'
in height, both his hair and eyes are brown and he has lamb chops
style moustache.
Willy is sheriff of the town of Saltmarsh, a position he has held for the past ten years and one that he takes seriously. He is friendly and amiable and is well respected, and liked, by the inhabitants of the town.
