Monday 21st March 1994
The party camp near the temple complex and make their plans. They decide to try to infiltrate the lair by stealth and finally settle upon a plan. Lexar casts invisibility on the party and levitates them over the outer wall.
They quickly by pass the upper temple and by sneaking round under the cover of their invisibility make their way into the dungeons beneath the temple without incident.
They explore part of the earth temple level before discovering stairs down to the next level.
Entering the second level they are ambushed by three guards who eventually flee. The party pursues the guards but lose them in an empty corridor. Searching the corridor Eron finds a secret door and the party enters a room with a large statue of a minotuar in the centre of it. Of course the minotaur animates and attacks but the party kill it.
Departing the "minotaur" room they follow a long corridor southwards. At the far end is a door which leads into another guardroom, this time it is inhabited by bugbears. A fight breaks out and soon reinforcements arrive. While the fight continues Maxine casts invisibility on herself and explores several nearby rooms. She returns just as an evil cleric and a few more bugbear come storming out of a secret door. Maxine webs the corridor and then proceeds to cast magic missiles on the cleric and kills him. Meanwhile the rest of the party kills the remaining bugbears.
Searching the clerics room they locate a concealed door and opening it find stairs leading down.
Entering the third level they pass through a statue filled room before following a long corridor eastwards. They pass several junctions but continue to follow the main passage which eventually leads to a natural grotto which is the lair of a leucrotta. The leucrotta is killed and another set of stairs leading down into darkness is discovered. Of course the party heads down into the fourth and lowest level of the temple complex.
The entry to the fourth level is guarded by four trolls who the party attack. Maxine manages to slow three of the monsters but they kill Adan before the rest of the party slays them. Adan succumbed to a 36 point critical bite from a troll which took of his head! All the party are now wounded and hurting so they decide to retreat back to the leucrotta’s lair.
Sunday March 27th 1994
The entry to this level is now guarded by two ferocious trolls. Maxine casts dancing lights down a corridor and one of the trolls heads off to investigate while an invisible Ogre sneaks up on the other and surprising it manages to slay it with a single blow, thanks to a triple damage critical! The second troll returns and with a roar of rage charges Ogre. Ogre slays it with another critical, this time he does 40 hps of damage! Exploring a side passage the party locates a cleric and a magic user and slay them both after a brief fight. Ogre manages to kill the mage with another critical hit. But by now the party is running low on spells and hit points so retreats to rest up in the leucrotta’s lair once more.
By now the temple is alert to the intruders and guards are searching for them. The first the party knows of this si when eight ogres burst into their haven and attack. Having decided that the third level is no longer safe they sneak back into the fourth level and hide in the slain clerics chamber.
Four gargoyles discover the party and attack but are all slain. Eron and Ogre however are both seriously injured in the melee and the constant skirmishes are sapping the parties strength. They party holds a hurried conference and decide to head up into the upper levels to hide.
They make it as far as the stairs leading to the first level when they spot an ettin heading down the stairs towards them. They flee back to the leucrotta’s room and hide in the shadows while the huge humanoid lumbers past on it’s way to the lowest level. They once again head up to level two and kill four bugbears in a guard room before escaping and hiding in a store room. They are finally able to rest and regain spells.
Monday April 4th 1994
After resting up the party decides to return to the fourth level. On the way they stop to check Adan’s body which they’d left in the cleric’s room. They are ambushed by two ettins but both creatures are slain.
Deeper they head into the temple’s lowest level and manage to penetrate as far as the entry to the main temple but here they are ambushed by a huge force of humanoids (4 hill giants, 4 ettins, 16 bugbears, 12 ogres, 2 gargoyles as well as two high level priests). The party decides to fight rather than flee but the odds are two great, their avenue of retreat is soon blocked and they are forced into a side passage. One giant is slain and Maxine manages to seal the passage by casting a web spell. But it is doubtful whether the spell will hold the creatures back for long.
The monsters set the webs alight and charge. Maxine slows the charge with a couple of lightning bolts that kill a number of the lesser creatures (bugbears and ogres) but the onslaught continues.
Ogre falls to an ogres club and Eron drags him back to safety. The party prepares to make their last stand in the dead end room that they are finally forced back into. In the centre of the floor is a strange rune/ pentagram. Eron drags ogre through this gate to "safety" and the others soon follow. The party is transported to the plane of elemental earth. They are soon approached by Talesian, a half elven bard who was thrown through the gate after being discovered in the temple. The bard promises to lead them to safety.
Resting up they recover spells before beginning to explore their otherworldly prison. They kill an umber hulk and an earth elemental before being forced to flee by a dracolisk.
Eventually they find themselves in a small chamber with a portal device similar to the one that sent them to this plane. The portal is guarded by five chargin grue. The party kill the creatures and find several magical items (a wand of paralysation, chain mail +3 and a light crossbow +1).
The party tries to rest in the room but are attacked by a stroper. The creature manages to charm Ogre and Maxine and a fierce battle ensures. The battle ends when the stroper is killed and the companions are freed from the charm.
Realising that the portal may be their only hope for salvation the party leaps through and find themselves in a long abandoned tower.
Exploring the area around the tower they find a city- Scournbel. The party has been transported to the Forgotten Realms!
The party rests up and trains: Eron becomes a 5/5 ranger/druid, Lexus, Maxine and Ogre all reach 6th level.
