The Silver Blades

Sunday October 9th 1994
The gnolls give chase and the party splits up. The following morning Eron uses his polymorph ability to become a hawk and he manages to locate all his companions. By afternoon they are all accounted for except for Ruald.
They find a defensible location to camp for the night and settle in to recover spells and heal wounds.A roving band of 20 ghouls attacks.. Ogre is taken by the raiders as the other Silver Blades fight for their lives. Lexar drops a fireball on the ghouls killing most of them and then they find Ogres have eaten body a short way from the camp.
The following day the stumble upon the ruins of a village recently burned and looted. The Silver Blades find no survivors and spend most of the afternoon building a cairn and burying the dead villagers.
A couple of days late they make it back to Ravenscrag and give Ruald’s sword to the local church . The priests are thankful and agree to raise Ogre as a way showing their gratitude.
Once rested the Silver Blades decide to once again return to the giant infested valley. On the way back into the mountains they are attacked by a black dragon. The dragon kills Talesian on its first pass then Maxine casts a confusion on the dragon and it flies around in a daze. The party take the opportunity given by this respite to retreat to a small cave nearby and hide. Eventually the draagon flies off so the party recover Talesian’s body and return to Ravenscrag. The priests raise him in return for a small donation (his magical elven chainmail.)
After this side trip they make it back to the valley and find a cave system where they are sure the missing sword lies. Entering the cave they kill several insect warriors (Aspis drones).
October 16th 1994
Carrying on into the caves they come across a bridge leading across a chasm. As they walk out onto it 4 aspis warriors step out from the far side and attack. Ogrre and Eron take on the insect warriors but the sound of combat attracts 10 giant ants which aid the aspis.
The Silver Blades enter a large cavern and are attacked by more of the aspis drones while several human warriors pepper them with missiles, then all hell breaks lose. From somewhere in the darkness a fireball explodes in the midst of the party followed quickly by a lightning bolt. Talesian drops but Maxine and Lexar manage to silence the spell caster with magic missiles.
The Silver Blades running low on spells and hit points press on into the cave system. Ogre scouts ahead while Eron tends to the wounded. Ogre locates the aspis cow’s lair then returns- he needs backup.
Maxine, Lexar and Ogre lead the assault against the aspis cow while Eron protects their rear from the slaver soldiers. Maxine drops an ice storm (which only does 5hp of damage!) followed by a web and manages to catch most of the aspis in the magical strands. Four aspis avoid the sticky strands and engage the party. Talesian takes over from Eron on rear duty and the four aspis drones are dispatched but not before Ogre falls.
The party tries to flee but their route of retreat is blocked. The mage has summoned an earth elemental which attacks. Maxine drops another fireball killing three soldiers. Eron attacks the two remaining soldiers but he is held. While Lexar is slain by magic missiles.
Maxine grabs Eron and makes aa break for it down a stream bed but she is hit by a lightning bolt and fried. She falls face down into the stream and along with Eron and Talesian is captured.
After being held in the dungeons for several weeks they are sold to a drow merchant and eventually end up in a drow city far beneath the surface world. Thus ends the adventures of the Silver Blades.
