The Wolfsheads: Gilfronden, Murwood, Peregrin (and eventually) Aldor

The Wolfsheads Band reunite in Waterdeep. The Wolfsheads have over the past year or so gone their separate ways as each has pursued his, or her, own goals. Reuniting in Waterdeep they have an audience with Khelbun Blackstaff who fills them in on recent events in the North- the giants are still causing problems as are the Zentarium who are once again infiltrating Llorkh.

On their way back to the cloud castle the Wolfsheads rescue an elven maid who was being attacked by thugs. The maid was searching for the Wolfsheads as her father is missing and she wants him found- he disappeared in the Greypeak Mountains. The Wolfsheads agree to help the maid, Kessendra.

The party flies to the Greypeak Mountains and locate the valley of Ch’thar and investigate a ruined village at the southern end of the valley. In the village they locate the remaining companions of Elanis (the missing elf). After spending a night in the village the Wolfsheads enter King’s Mountain- the entrance to which is flooded.

The party find the "Mushroom King" who is actually an evil dragon using ventriloquism to dupe the PCs. After much negotiation the party agrees to leave the mushroom king one of Gilfronden’s magical long swords as a toll so that they may pass (lucky for them as the mushroom king would have wasted them). Peregrin’s magic short sword snaps in a battle with four catarid columns.

The Wolfsheads travel further into the mountain and find Baine, one of the missing adventurers. Baine has been cursed by his sword and is becoming a vampire. The Wolfsheads agree to help him and Murwood buries his sword (via stone shape) in the floor of a cavern . The party then tries to cross a bridge that spans the chasm. The bridge is defended by the ghost of the elven king’s champion, Lionsfar. The Wolfsheads try several times to defeat the ghost but are defeated (only one person can cross the bridge at a time) eventually Gilfronden hastes Murwood and they "kill" the ghost (Gilfronden casts magic missiles while Murwood attacks with the magic blades).

In the chamber beyond the bridge the Wolfsheads find Lionsfar’s sarcophagi and Murwood manages to open it revealing the remains of the elf (which they take for burial and thus end his cursed existence). The sarcophagi also contains Lionsfar’s quarterstaff +4 and elven chain mail.

The party leaves King’s Mountain but returns the following day with Aldor. They then proceed back into the heart of the mountain.

Aldor puts his ring of the Golem’s finger and the party is transported to the lower level. The ring is drained of all magic in the process.

In the lower level they find Dirk, Ellana and Elanis. Aldor raises Ellana and removes the curse afflicting Baine. Murwood tries to master the flying machine but crashes releasing two air elementals. The following day the party flies across the huge underground cavern and locates Thiondar’s tower.

The party flies onto the top of the tower but Murwood crash lands releasing another two elementals. A Couatl appears after the elementals are defeated and explains about the history of the Stone of Gul. The party enters the tower where they meet Thiondar who pleads for help.

Further down in the tower they locate the library and find several magical tomes as well as a complete set of spell books (levels 1-9). In the next level they locate the Keeper (Thiondar) and a battle erupts. Baine is killed as is Murwood and Aldor is knocked out before Gilfronden manages to dispatch Thiondar- it was touch and go. Aldor raises Murwood (after Gilfronden has used his ring to regenerate Aldor). The Wolfsheads then loot the tower before using the Rod of Teleportationi to destroy the Stone of Gul (they send it to the Elemental Plane of Fire). A few days later they return to Waterdeep.
